Mangalore, December 13: Subodh Yadav has. Dakshina Kannada District Commissioner, directed the revenue officials to initiate measures to see that non eligible beneficiaries do not receive monthly honorarium under Sandhya Surakshe, widow pension and pension for handicapped.

There are several instances of some receiving honorarium even after the death of the real beneficiary.


Speaking at a meeting, he said social security schemes are being misused. The officials concerned should inform District Treasury on the measures taken to prevent such misappropriations. The facilities for the SC/ST beneficiaries under various scheme should be distributed on time.


Stating that there should be no delay in the distribution of compensation under natural calamities, he said the tahsildars will be held responsible for any such delay. He directed the officials to postpone the demolition of illegal places of worship to January 5.


GPS

If GPS of sand transporting trucks are switched off for three days, then officials of Mines and Geology department should initiate action against such lorries within three days. The process of distributing sites for siteless should be completed within January 15, he added.


Housing scheme

The DC expressed disastisfaction over the progress made in the selection of Namma Mane and Vajpayee Vasathi Yojane. He said Chief Officers will be held responsible if the target is not reached. After collecting complete details on the beneficiaries, if the beneficiaries lists are rejected by the banks, then officials will be held responsible. The work undertaken under the Chief Minister’s Small, Medium Town Development Project should be completed by January 2011.


Waste disposal

Stating that waste are not disposed scientifically in the district, Yadav said Moodbidri and Bantwal should have waste disposal system within three weeks. At any cost, wastes should not be brought from Moodbidri and Bantwal for disposing it in MCC limits after three weeks. All the taluk, town panchayats should make arrangement for the scientific disposal of wastes. Waste disposal unit at Sullia should be started by December 31.
