DC directs officials on poll duty to work in complete co-ordination

Mangalore, April 13, 2013 :  Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta has said that sector magistrates will be in-charge of flying squads in  the district and that they can initiate action under IPC Section 188 if anyone went against their directive.

Addressing a meeting of sector magistrates and returning officers at the Mangala Auditorium of MCC on April 12, Friday. The DC also directed all officials deputed on poll duty to work in perfect co-ordination with each other. He said political parties and candidates will have to secure prior permission before n utilizing vehicles, supplying food or putting up shamiyanas. No rallies are permitted, he said.

Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar who also  spoke  directed officials on duty at static checkposts to videograph any event which they find suspicious.

He also said there should be a co-ordination between returning officers, sector magistrates and police inspectors to prevent  violation of poll code of conduct.
