Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Feb 14, 2012: Addressing reporters at a press conference held in the office of the district Congress on Feb 14 Tuesday, V. S. Ugrappa, the senior Congress leader accused BJP ministers, including CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda of following their own rules in utter disregard of the Indian Constitution despite the fact that they received oaths that they would abide by the Constitution when they took over.

Referring to Advocate General P. V. Acharya, he said that he had made a lot of money as the special public prosecutor in the Jayalalitha case and was appointed as the advocate general in utter disregard of the Constitution. However, P. V. Acharya chose to remain as Jayalalitha’s special public prosecutor and resigned as the advocate general. He urged the CM to hand over this case to the CBI for investigation.

Voicing his opinions of the Lokayukta problem, he said that the Lokayukta report was submitted on July 27, 2011, stating that the state government has robbed the state exchequer of Rs. 20,000 crore, but the government decided to delay the appointment of the new Lokayukta in order to hide this. Calling the state government as “lawless,” he said that they are unwilling to appoint either the Lokayukta or the Upa Lokayukta.

He also demanded CBI investigation into the recently held Island Festival and the porn-viewing episode in assembly.

He also stated that the state government must be dissolved if CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda, former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa, and K. S. Eshwarappa, the president of the state BJP really have any respect for the Indian Constitution.

Criticizing the three ministers who were involved in the porn-viewing episode, he said that ministers who are supposed to work for public welfare ought not to have watched sex clips in assembly. Their guilt is definitely confirmed as they have confessed to watching it for two minutes. He also flayed the CM for supporting them.

Questioning the speaker’s moral values, he wanted to know how the speaker could keep quiet during such incidents.

Congress workers T. K. Sudhir, Sadashiva Ullal, Farooq Ullal, and others were also present.
