Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, March 15, 2013 : The committee for Resisting Saffronisation of Text Books in Karnataka has urged the government to make available copies of the new text books to be prescribed for sixth and ninth standards from the next academic year, for a thorough scrutiny.

Speaking to  reporters in Mangalore on March 14, Thursday, Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, President of the Committee said the need for scrutiny was felt more than ever as the text books for fifth and eighth standards prescribed last year were not in accordance  to the guidelines of theNCERT.
He alleged that no serious thought has been given to the content of the text books though drafts of the same have been sent to all District Institutes for Education and Training and Colleges of Teacher Education across the state.
CH Krishna Shastri Balila, Member of the Committee, who also spoke on the occasion  said all drafts of the new textbooks be made available  on public domain and also that the views of the public and parents too be taken into consideration.

Members of the committee Ramashesha Shetty, Kabir Ullal and Victor D’Silva were present.
