Puttur, Mar 18, 2013: Kodagu District Superintendent of Police MN Anucheth has informed that combing operations are presently being carried out by both the Karnataka and Kerala police teams in the forest areas across the borders of the two states, close on the heels of the spotting of a nine member Naxal team at two places in Birunani area in Srimangala police station limits of Kodagu district.
Anucheth said the Naxal team led by Vikram Gowda and Sundari which was earlier spotted in some places in Belthangady, Puttur and Sullia of DK district, was itself seen in Birunani too.
A team of Kannur police are busy conducting combing operations in Makutta area which falls on the Karnataka-Kerala border in Virajpete taluk. The Anti-Naxal Force is also on alert at some strategic locations in border areas where there is a possibility of the Naxal team crossing borders.
