Mangalore, Aug 11, 2013: In a first of its kind initiative by the City Bus Operators Association in Mangalore, a city bus operating on the Mangalore-Bajpe route was fitted with GPS facility on August 10, Saturday.
The Association says it will be fitting GPS to 14 more buses on the same route within the next few days while over 350 buses will be fitted with the facility within three months.
With this facility bus operators can keep a watch on the movement of their buses. Vijay Putran, General Secretary of the Association says the GPS would be a boon to bus operators and there would be no need to appoint time keepers. Moreover they would have to spend just Rs 400 on maintenance of the device every month.
