Children enthrall audience with theatre fest ‘Rum Pum Po-2013’

Mangalore, Oct 17, 2013: two-day Konkani children’s theatre festival ‘Rum Pum Po-2013’ organized by World Konkani Centre (WKC) inaugurated attracting huge audience at Town Hall on Oct 17, Thursday.

On the first day plays Maya’ (Witch of the Sea), Chithal Thondacho Ghov’ (Groom with a Deer Face) and ‘Ajyapachi Mudhi’ (A Miraculous Ring) were performed with the duration of 30 minutes each.

The formal inaugural ceremony was done by World Konkani Centre president Basti Vaman Shenoy, poet Melvyn Rodrigues and Dinesh Prabhu by unlocking a box with the meaning of providing opportunities for the children to display their talents.

 ‘Dharyachi Maya’ was staged by Konkani Kharvi community children’s group of All India Konkani Kharvi Mahajan Sabha.  The script and direction by Vinod Gangolli.

Play ‘Chithal Thondacho Ghov’, staged by the Kudal Deshkar community children’s group of Shri Poornananda Seva Prathistan, Mangalore. The play is directed by Shridhar Achar, script is by Prashanth Prabhu and Geetha Ratnakar.

‘Ajyapachi Mudhi’ , by the Roman Catholic community by Amritha Social Trust, Shaktinagar. The play is directed by Gopalkrishna K, script is by Joy Nelson Monteiro.

The children belonging to three distinct Konkani speaking communities performed the play giving importance to their dialects.
