Mangalore, July 19, 2012 : The CPI (M) organized a protest on July 19, Thursday against the bad condition of Market Road and Bibi Alabi Road.
In his protest address, Vasanth Acharya, CPI (M) leader, said that the MCC is not “Maha Nagara Palike,” but “Maha Naraka Palike.” CPI (M) members also shouted slogans with this line.
Mr. Acharya further said that, although the MCC organizes so many anti-malaria and anti-dengue programs, it does nothing to change things for the better. He said that, when the BJP came to power in Karnataka after 60 years of Congress rule, people expected something better, but the even the BJP has failed the people.
In spite of the presence of a hospital, a commercial complex, and a police station in the locality, the MCC has done nothing to keep it clean. Although the MCC is collecting Rs. 150 from each house, it is doing nothing to maintain cleanliness, he alleged.
He also said that the CPI (M) will intensify its protests if the MCC does not repair the road immediately.
DYFI leaders B. K. Imtiaz, Sunil Kumar Bajal, and many others also took part in this protest.
