The federation has purchased 108 such machines from Powercraft Electronics Private Ltd., a company based in Mumbai. Henceforth, people who travel along the bus routes belonging to the east zone by buses belonging to the DK Bus Operators’ Association will receive computerized bus tickets. The east zone routes comprises service buses plying to rural and surburban areas as well as city buses that ply to Thokkotu, Mudipu, Konaje, Manjanady, Vittla, and B. C. Road.

Seva Nayak, the regional traffic officer, launched the new machine and voiced his opinion that the use of computer technology in issuing bus tickets will reduce clash between bus conductors and passengers. He also urged the federation to organize special training courses for bus drivers and conductors to reduce violation of traffic rules.

Rajavarma Ballal, the state president of Bus Owners’ Federation, was the chief guest of the event. In his address, he urged bus drivers and conductors to provide topnotch service. He warned that if they fail to give good service, the passengers will opt for government buses.

Aziz Parthipady, the general secretary of the DK Bus Owners’ Association, said that if the federation’s recent move turns out to be successful, the association will introduce many such machines on all the 300 city buses operating in Mangalore.
