Brahmavar, July 12, 2025: A man was arrested near the tourist tempo stand at Kunjal Junction in Waramballi village for allegedly selling liquor illegally in a public place. Based on a tip-off about the illicit liquor sale, a team led by PSI Ashok Malabagi from the Brahmavar police station conducted the raid.
During the operation, police apprehended Umesh Poojary (49), a resident of Handady village in Brahmavar. He was found selling liquor illegally from a scooter bearing registration number KA-19-X-9055 without any valid license.
Investigation revealed that he had been purchasing alcohol from a licensed wine store in Brahmavar and reselling it at a higher price. Police seized a bag containing 30 liquor tetra packs of various brands including Prestige Fine Whisky, Haward’s Cheers, Original Choice, Mysore Lancer Deluxe, Bagpiper Deluxe, and Old Grain, with an estimated value of ₹1,700. Additionally, ₹280 in cash — suspected to be proceeds from the sales — and the scooter used for transportation were also seized.
A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station.
