Mangaluru Lok Adalat: Judge helps reunite estranged couple after 16 years of marriage

Mangaluru, July 12, 2025: At the Lok Adalat held in the Mangaluru court today, a heartwarming moment unfolded as Principal Family Court Judge Lakshminarayana Bhatt K and Adalat member K S Gowri helped reunite a couple who had been living separately due to family disputes.

Hanumanta Hoogar, a resident of Kavoor, and Savitri Hoogar, from Bejai, have been married for 16 years and have two children. However, due to certain domestic issues, the couple had been living apart. Hanumanta Hoogar had filed a petition in court seeking an opportunity to reconcile and live with his wife again.

Advocate Anisha D’Souza represented the petitioner, Hanumanta Hoogar, while advocate Dinkar Shetty appeared on behalf of the respondent, Savitri Hoogar. The session was also attended by Ms. Jaibunnissa, Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority.

Through detailed discussions and counseling about married life and the importance of resolving conflicts, the couple was guided toward reconciliation. Taking into consideration the judge’s advice and insights, the husband and wife agreed to reunite and live happily with their children.

In a symbolic gesture of their reunion, the couple exchanged flower garlands in front of the judge, as those present offered their congratulations and best wishes.
