Bengaluru, December 4, 2025: Divya Gehlot, wife of Devendra Gehlot, grandson of Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, has alleged mental and physical harassment over dowry demand by her in-laws. Several allegations including domestic violence, attempt to murder, and mental harassment levelled up.

In a written complaint submitted to Ratlam Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar in Madhya Pradesh, Divya alleged that her husband threw her off the roof in a drunk state and her in-laws forbade her from meeting her 4-year-old daughter.

Divya alleged that her husband Devendra Gehlot (33), father-in-law Jitendra Gehlot (55), a former MLA from Alot, brother-in-law Vishal Gehlot (25), and grandmother-in-law Anita Gehlot (60) have been physically and mentally harassing her. They demand a dowry of Rs 50 lakh.

Former MLA Jitendra Gehlot reacted to the allegations and told that they “will present all the facts before media".

Divya married Devendra Gehlot on April 29, 2018, in Ratlam under the Chief Minister’s Kanyadan Scheme. She alleged that several details like Devendra’s alleged drug addiction, affairs, and others were concealed from her.

In the complaint, she also said that her in-laws repeatedly taunt her and demand the promised dowry amount. She is denied food, beaten up, and is subjected to grave mental torture.

Divya shared a horrific incident that took place on January 26. She recounted that her intoxicated husband came to her and pressured her to get money. Then, Devendra pushed her from the roof. Divya sustained serious injuries but was not taken to hospital in the night.

Next morning, she was taken to a private hospital in Nagda, where doctors declared her critical and referred her to Bombay Hospital in Indore.

Divya further alleged in the complaint that her husband doesn’t let her meet her daughter and says, “Unless you bring money from your parents, you cannot meet your daughter."
