Mangalore, Sep 28, 2013: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanded the police departments to book cattle thieves under Goonda Act.


Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Sep 28, Saturday, VHP district working president, Jagadish Shenava said that the cattle theft cases have been increasing in the region and with the help of Bhajarangdal, the police have arrested a few cattle thieves few days ago.

He also said that approximately 4000 cattle have been reported missing from the district. Hence the police department must identify the owner of the stolen cattle and register the case till the compensation of Rs 50,000 is given per cattle to the owners.


The police officials must arrest the people involved in the cattle theft cases seize the vehicle including the driver of the vehicle. Till date petty cases was registered on the driver and the vehicle and were released, but further police must take strict action against the transporters and conduct thorough investigation.


The officials must also book the cases against the political leaders and other officials who receive the bribes to run this illegal business. A case must book against the people who sell or buy meat, he said.


VHP leaders Kateel Dinesh Pai and Dinesh Pandeshwar were present.
