A total of 1,234 Billava candidates from the state’s six districts have been victorious in the recent GP polls. Of these, 667 are from DK and 413 are from Udupi. Overwhelmed by the large number of Billavas in the GPs, Mr. Poojary spoke about his political achievements, claiming that he had kept his hand and mind clean while other politicians are involved in all sorts of scams. He also declared that nobody will be able to find a single black spot in his long political career.

Simultaneously, he expressed his regrets over the Billava community forgetting the hard work done by their political leaders. He said that the Billavas are ignoring all their leaders. Recalling the time when there were 5 MLAs and 3 MPs from the Billava community, he said that they have all been now defeated by the members of their own community. Urging the Billava community to recognize the worth of its political leaders, he urged them not to elect selfish and corrupt people who are trying to woo voters by distributing sarees in spite of being involved in innumerable scams.

Poojary also urged the community to brush away caste and political differences and work for the general development of their villages. He advised them to carry out an honest and non corrupt administration and treat corruption as their enemy. He also warned people against corrupt politicians.

Jaya C. Suvarna, the president of the Rashtriya Billavara Mahamandala, presided over the programme. MLC Kota Shrinivasa Poojary, former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake, and Billava leaders K. Prabhakar Bangera, K. Somappa Suvarna, U. Narayana Udupi, B. Madhava Suvarna, H. S. Sairam, Padmaraj R., and others were also present.
