Bantwal, May 29, 2025: The Bengaluru to Mangaluru side of the 2.1 km long Kalladka flyover on the National Highway 75 will be thrown open to traffic from June 2, according to Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta.

The two-lane vehicular underpasses at Mani and Uppinangady on the same highway will be opened for traffic from Thursday, he said in a release on Wednesday.

Kalladka flyover

Considering the early arrival of monsoon in the Dakshina Kannada district, people are facing difficulty in travelling on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru section of NH-75 due to the ongoing four-lane project.

For the convenience of people, the matter has been taken up with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to throw open the critical points for traffic, Capt. Chowta said.

He said that the NHAI has been instructed to address the waterlogging issue at Thumbe near B.C. Road on the highway. As per the instructions, the NHAI is building a pipe culvert to drain water during rainfall. Upon completion of the work, the problem will be solved. It would provide much relief to travellers.

Project almost complete

Capt. Chowta said that 14.4 km (95.17%) of the 15.130 km four-lane work from Addahole to Periyashanthi on the highway has been completed. In addition, 41.52 km (85.63%) of the 48.485 km of the four-lane work between Periyashanthi and B. C. Road has been completed.

Project started in 2017

Meanwhile, the project commenced in 2017 when the NHAI appointed Larsen and Tubro as the contractor for the four-laning of B.C. Road-Addahole (Gundya) stretch of NH 75.

Following L&T’s withdrawal from the project, the project was divided into two packages. The Periyashanthi-Addahole stretch (15.13 km), which passes through wildlife corridors, was awarded to S.M. Autade Private Limited at an estimated cost of ₹400 crore.

The one between B.C. The Road and Periyashanthi (Dharmasthala Cross — 48.48 km) project, estimated to cost ₹1,100 crore, was awarded to KNR Constructions.

With about 70-odd spans, the Kalladka flyover is one of the crucial components of the road widening project. When traffic is allowed on the other side of the flyover (Mangaluru to Bengaluru side), it will provide much relief to travellers using the highway.
