Beltangady, June 6, 2025: In a shocking incident on Friday morning near Boliyaru in Dharmasthala, a wild elephant attacked and completely wrecked an autorickshaw.
Dinesh, a resident of Boliyaru, was heading towards Dharmasthala in his autorickshaw early in the morning when he suddenly encountered a wild elephant on the road near his house. Alarmed by the sight, Dinesh abandoned the vehicle on the spot and fled to safety.
The elephant then charged at the autorickshaw, severely damaging it and pushing it into a nearby drain. Hearing the noise of the destruction, Dinesh’s wife and neighbors rushed to the scene, by which time the elephant had retreated into the forest.
Dinesh, upon seeing the wrecked state of his vehicle, collapsed in shock. His family members took him home and gave him medical attention. Forest department and gram panchayat officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
