Bengaluru, January 28, 2026: Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja has met Home Minister G. Parameshwara and submitted a memorandum seeking a detailed and comprehensive investigation into the suspicious death of Sumanth, a boy from Odilnala village, who had gone out to attend the final day of Dhanurmasa Puja.


Sumanth death case: MLA Punja appeals to HM


Sumanth had left his house early in the morning on January 14 to visit a temple in connection with Dhanurmasa. He later went missing under mysterious circumstances, and his body was subsequently found in a pond near his house. Police observed signs of a severe blow to the head, indicating that the death was not accidental. A case of murder has been registered.

However, the police department has so far not shared any details regarding the progress of the investigation. In this backdrop, Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja met the Home Minister at Vidhana Soudha and urged him to ensure a thorough probe into the suspicious death of Sumanth from Odilnala village and to place the truth before the public at the earliest.
