Belthangady, Jun 1, 2026: A lone wild elephant attacked a two-wheeler at Didupe in Malavanthige village on the night of May 31. Fortunately, the rider managed to escape in time and avoided serious injury.

The rider, Nekkilottu Narayana Gowda, a resident of Didupe in Malavanthige village, was returning home on his scooter after attending a local programme. When he reached the Nelyadka Road area at night, a lone elephant suddenly emerged from the darkness and came in front of his vehicle.

Scooter attacked

Before he could react, the elephant charged at the scooter and severely damaged it. Narayana Gowda reportedly noticed the elephant only when he came very close to it. Alarmed by the sudden encounter, he immediately abandoned the vehicle and ran to safety.

His quick response helped him escape the attack without any injuries, while the scooter was extensively damaged in the elephant’s assault.
