Belthangady: BJP workers among 4 arrested for cattle smuggling

Belthangady, July 13, 2023: Dharmasthala police who have detected a case of cattle smuggling in an inhuman way in three vehicles have arrested four persons including BJP workers.

Those arrested are Pramod Salian of Navoor, Pushparaj of Olagadde, Chennakeshava of Arakalagudu and Sandeep Hirebelaguli of Holenarasipura.

Police have seized three vehicles, six cows and two male calves from them. The animals were found crammed in the vehicles in an inhuman manner.

The cattle trafficking was detected when the Dharmasthala SI Anil Kumar and his team were checking vehicles near the Kanyadi Ram Mandir based on a definite clue. It was then that the three vehicles were traced.

It is learnt the cattle was being transported with the intention of selling them. The value of the cattle is Rs 65,000 while the value of the vehicles seized has been estimated at Rs 7 lakhs.
