Bajpe minor rape case:Convict sentenced to 7 yrs jail

 Mangalore, Dec 5, 2013  : The Second Sessions Court of Mangalore has  sentenced a youth to seven years of imprisonment  for raping a  minor girl. The convict  Dinesh Amin (27) of Paduperar Chavandipalke  has also been slapped a penalty of Rs 10,000. Yet another accused in the case Manoj  B Shetty of Kinnipadavu is absconding.

The incident had taken place on June 24,2011 when the 12 year old girl was returning home from school.Manoj Shetty who is an autorickshaw driver  had lured the girl and had taken her in his autorickshaw to a rented house  at Kaudurpadavu.After raping the girl, he had  even invited his friend Dinesh Amin who too  then committed the grave offence of raping the minor. The complaint lodged with Bajpe police said the two had then threatened the girl of grave consequences if she divulged the matter before anyone.

Though the police had arrested both the accused in the case, Manoj Shetty who had secured bail from the High Court, had later gone missing and had even failed to appear before the court.

The court has also ruled that the convict Dinesh Amin will have to undergo an additional six months of imprisonment if he failed to pay the penalty amount.
