Udupi, March 29, 2013: State BJP President Prahlad Joshi has said that a probe would be ordered into the recent case pertaining to the controversy revolving over a sleaze video involving Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore, Joshi said the party had suspicion if the video was authentic and promised that an internal probe will be held before initiating any action. At the same time Joshi ruled out the possibility of the video episode spoiling the poll prospects of the BJP.
Joshi also clarified that Bhat had decided against contesting the assembly elections due to family reasons.
In the meantime, Udupi District BJP President Udaykumar Shetty said Raghupathi Bhat has contributed significantly to the party and suspected that the sleaze video was released to the media as a ploy to prevent Bhat from contesting the polls. He also said the CM has been requested to order for a high level probe into the incident so that the culprits would stand exposed.
Court directive : A Bangalore court has directed TV channels not to air the sleaze video clippings. This directive is in the wake of a petition filed by Raghupathi Bhat.
Sources revealed that the sleaze video was shot at a hotel in Mumbai on February 11 which is owned by an Udupi based industrialist and that the girl seen in the video was a Nepali.
As per reports, the video was shot in a Mumbai hotel on February 11 this year and the girl in the video was reportedly from Nepal. The hotel is owned by an Udupi industrialist, reports claimed. Sources further said the video clippings have been circulated in Udupi over mobile phones in the past few days.
