Mangaluru, Jan 10, 2026: A protest was held on Friday in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha in the city by the Dakshina Kannada district unit of the BJP, condemning a derogatory post made on social media against Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya.
Speaking at the protest, BJP district president Satish Kumpala said that there is no security even for MLAs under the present state government, and questioned what the condition of ordinary citizens would be. He alleged that cases are being filed only against BJP MLAs and party workers, and demanded that a case be registered in connection with the derogatory remarks made against the Sullia MLA.
MP Brijesh Chowta, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, and party leader Sulochana Bhatt also addressed the gathering.
MLA Kishore Kumar Puttur, former MLAs Monappa Bhandari, Sanjeeva Mathanduru, Balakrishna Bhatt, former Mayor Premananda Shetty, Poornima, Ramesh Kandettu, Ramesh Hegde, Praveen Niddel, and others participated in the protest.
