Mangaluru, June 21, 2026: Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar has said that Chief Minister D.K. Addressing a press conference at the District Congress office in Mangaluru on Saturday, Harish Kumar said the Chief Minister recently chaired a meeting in Bengaluru to discuss tourism development in the coastal belt. During the meeting, officials were directed to resolve issues related to Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms and Forest Department regulations that hinder tourism projects, besides implementing a single-window clearance system.

Harish Kumar said the Chief Minister aims to promote development without affecting the region’s natural beauty while taking local traditions, customs and cultural practices to the international stage. He added that the government is also considering subsidies to encourage investment in tourism-related ventures.

Highlighting efforts to promote the region’s cultural heritage, Harish Kumar said the Chief Minister has proposed organising Kambala, the traditional buffalo race of coastal Karnataka, during the Mysuru Dasara celebrations this year. He has also assured financial assistance of ₹5 crore to Kambala committees in response to their demand.

These initiatives reflect the Chief Minister’s commitment to strengthening tourism and boosting the district’s economy, Harish Kumar said.
