Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Oct 7: Vijayakumar Shetty, the former Congress MLA, alleged on Thursday that an elected BJP representative from a local constituency is directly involved in the kidnapping of Rajeshwarachary, the IVRCL deputy manager, but refused to disclose his name. He was addressing reporters during a press conference held in the Congress office. When reporters insisted, he declared that all elected BJP representatives, except N. Yogish Bhat, are involved in the kidnapping case.

Rajeshwarachary was kidnapped when he had arrived in Mangalore to submit tender documents related to MSEZL river water pipeline conveyance system (contract package number SEZL/WS/MS/01) on Aug 16. He later reported that he had arrived at the MSEZ office at 10:30 a.m. and had registered his name, company name, and mobile number on Aug 16. When he came out of the office after the registration with the tender documents in his bag, some miscreants had snatched his bag and had run away toward the elevator. He had chased them into the elevator, when two men, who were already inside the elevator, ordered him to return to Bangalore without submitting the tender. When he had indignantly refused, they forcibly took him to a car and pushed him inside. However, they released him unharmed the following day.

Vijayakumar said that the silence of the police department regarding this issue is a matter of grave concern. In spite of the number of witnesses to the case and the availability of clues and evidence pointing toward the culprit, the police have chosen to ignore it owing to pressure from the BJP leaders, he alleged.

He urged Seemanth Kumar Singh, the police commissioner of Mangalore, to exert pressure on the Barke police. A case regarding the kidnapping had been registered at the Barke Police Station.

Congress leaders Sudhir T. K., Santhosh Ullal, Ashok Kumar, and Kodijal Ibrahim were present during the press conference.
