Mangalore. Oct 6, 2011 :Ayudha Pooja was observed throughout Mangalore on Wednesday, the 9th day of the Navarathri Festival.

Vehicle owners and drivers cleaned their vehicles and decorated them with flowers. Hindus cleaned and worshipped work tools, electrical appliances, vehicles, and instruments used at work. The equipment was cleaned, dusted, polished, and decorated, after which it was smeared with sandalwood and turmeric paste and decorated with flowers. Work tools and vehicles were worshipped along with images of Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati.

 

Ayuda poojaThis is the Hindu way of expressing gratitude to God for helping them earn their living. It also includes an earnest request to help them continue earning their living in the days to come.

Private businesses, shop owners, vendors, as well as government offices thoroughly cleaned up the workplace and decorated it with fresh flowers, plantain saplings, banana leaves, and others. The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) performed Ayudha Pooja on Tuesday since Wednesday was declared holiday.

The rifles and other arms used by the defense forces were also worshipped in the presence of Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, IGP Alok Mohan, and DK Superintendent of Police Labu Ram. Police vehicles were given a thorough wash and decorated with flowers.

Saraswathi Pooja was observed in temples across the district. Social and political leaders took this opportunity to greet the people and wish them well.
