Harihara, Sep 8, 2025: The ninth day of the Novena in preparation for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was observed with deep devotion at Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica, Harihara, in the Diocese of Shimoga.

The evening program commenced at 5:00 p.m. with the Rosary, a procession, and floral tributes to Harihara Matha, led by Rev. Fr. George K. A., Rector of the Basilica and Parish Priest.

At 5:30 p.m., Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore and Apostolic Administrator of Mysore Diocese, presided over the solemn Holy Eucharist. In his homily, Archbishop Moras highlighted hope as a guiding light for evangelizers, stating that Mother Mary remains a beacon of hope and that “hope never disappoints us” (Romans 5:5). He urged the faithful to nurture their spiritual lives, live by Christ’s teachings, and draw inspiration from Mother Mary’s example.

Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Shimoga Diocese, along with a large number of clergy, concelebrated the Mass. On behalf of the diocese, Bishop Serrao honored Archbishop Moras, while Rev. Fr. George K. A. expressed gratitude to the prelate for his presence and message.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, Rev. Fr. Franklin D’Souza and Rev. Fr. Roman Pinto led the healing prayers and benediction, offering special prayers over the pilgrims. The Novena concluded with a renewed sense of hope and devotion among the faithful.

Chitradurga, September 8, 2025: The Our Lady of Velanganni Sub-Station of Holy Family Church, Kamanabhavi, celebrated its annual feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 7 with great solemnity.

In preparation, a spiritual retreat and confessions were organized on September 6 by Rev. Fr. Simon Pinto, Coordinator of Diocesan Commissions, who also offered a novena Holy Eucharist.

On the feast day, Rev. Fr. Franklin D’Souza, Youth Director of the Diocese of Shimoga, presided over the Festal Mass at 10:30 a.m., preceded by the recitation of the Rosary. In his homily, he reflected on the theme “Mother Mary as the beacon of hope”, drawing from biblical events that revealed her steadfast faith and role as a source of encouragement for believers.

After the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Franklin blessed and led the traditional chariot procession along with Rev. Fr. Clarence Dias, the Parish Priest. A special felicitation was also held to honor students who secured top ranks in SSLC and PUC examinations.

Rev. Fr. Clarence Dias extended gratitude to Fr. Franklin D’Souza, the concelebrants, and the benefactors who supported the celebration. The feast concluded with benediction and the serving of a festive meal to all participants.
