Absconding accused arrested after 12 years in Udupi

Udupi, Feb 25, 2026: An accused who had been absconding for the past 12 years after allegedly being involved in several serious cases, including violations of the Foreigners Act, has finally been arrested by Bantwal Rural Police in a successful operation carried out in Udupi.

The arrested accused has been identified as Taj Mohammed Yusuf (59), a resident of Udupi. A case had been registered against him in 2014 at the Bantwal Rural Police Station under the Foreigners Act.

Abscond

The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Bantwal Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yash Kumar Sharma (IPS). A special team was formed under the guidance of Police Sub-Inspectors Manjunath T and Krishnakant K. Acting on credible information, the team comprising personnel Shivananda Maddi, Shiddappa, and Praveen raided the Karkala area of Udupi and successfully apprehended the accused.
