 Mangalore, Jun 16, 2012: An 18-year-old youngster was stabbed to death near Akash Bhavan, Konchadi here on June 15, Friday at around 11.30 pm.

Though he was rushed to hospital he succumbed to injuries on June 16, Saturday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The victim has been identified as Kumar, son of the late Shridhar and Appi who is an employee in the city corporation, resident of Akash Bhavan. Kumar is said to be painter by profession.

On the night of the murder, Kumar along with two others was on his way to a nearby shop, when four persons who came in a car stabbed him and fled from the spot immediately.

The identity of the culprits and the motive behind the murder is yet to know. However, it is suspected to be the result of a gang rivalry.

Corporator Deepak said that Kumar was part of a gang led by Pradeep, who had rivalry with another gang led by Santosh. "On Friday night, Santosh’s gang attacked Kumar and his companions and demanded to know the whereabouts of Pradeep. An altercation ensued, leading to the murder of Kumar," he said.

Kavoor police have started investigating and have seized the car used by the culprits and no arrests have been made so far.
