8 dead, several injured as KSRTC Airavatha bus falls off bridge near Hassan

Hassan, Jan 13, 2018: Eight persons including two women died and over 10 sustained injuries when a KSRTC Airavatha Bus which was on way to Dharmasthala from Bengaluru fell off a bridge near Karekere on the NH 75  at Shantigrama in Hassan taluk during the early hours of January 13, Saturday.

 

Though the exact reason for the mishap is not known, the negligence of the driver is suspected to  be the cause of the mishap which took place at around 3.30 am. Five of the deceased have been identified as Diana (22) from Mangaluru, Bijo  (25) from Belthangady,  Lakshman, the bus driver, conductor Shivappa Chalavadi and Gangadhar N from Bengaluru. The condition of two of those injured is said to be critical.
