3 Ayyappa devotees die of drowning

Karkala, Nov 28, 2011 : Three Ayyappa devotees, who were preparing to journey to Shabarimala, died on drowning on Nov 27 Sunday in two different incidents.

 

Sadananda (31) of Daregudde and Lokesh (35) of Mantrady had gone to River Phalguni with their friend Suresh after lunch. They washed their clothes in the river. Suresh was putting out the clothes for drying while Lokesh and Sadananda entered the river again for a bath. Unfortunately, they got caught in whirpools and died of drowning.

Suresh shouted for help and people soon gathered on the spot. The bodies of the two were found after a short time by the fire fighting personnel of Moodubidri. A. K. Thimmaiah, the circle inspector of Moodubidri, and Ramesh Kumar, the station house officer, visited the place and conducted investigations.

In another incident, Sathish Devadiga (26) of Pulkeri Bypass drowned when he was taking bath in Ramasamudra in Karkala on Sunday. He slipped and fell into the water accidentally.
