Bhatkal, Sep 14, 2012 : Twenty people sustained injuries when a lorry collided head-on with a tempo on the evening of September 13, Thursday.
Devraj, who was driving the tempo, and Annappa, who was driving the lorry, along with Manjunath, Ishwar Naik, and Mahabaleshwar are seriously injured.
The overcrowded tempo was on its way to Bhatkal from Honnavar when it collided with a lorry moving in the opposite direction, at Belke Cross in Murudeshwar.
The seriously injured people have been admitted to Mangalore-based hospitals. Four of the others have been admitted in a hospital in Kundapur, and the others have been admitted to Bhatkal Government Hospital and RNS Murudeshwar.
An injured person said that they had taken the tempo because KSRTC buses were not available.
The Top Emergency Help Association with the assistance of local people helped move the injured to various hospitals.
The Murudeshwar police have registered a case.
