London, Sep 14, 2025: A far-right rally led by activist Tommy Robinson drew more than 110,000 people on Saturday, sparking violent clashes with police. The "Unite the Kingdom" march turned unruly when some supporters attacked officers separating them from counterprotesters.
The Metropolitan Police said 26 officers were injured, including four seriously, after being punched, kicked and hit with bottles. At least 25 people were arrested for violent disorder, assault and criminal damage.
Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist said while many had come to protest lawfully, “many came intent on violence.” More than 1,000 officers, backed by reinforcements in riot gear, were deployed.
The rival “March Against Fascism” by Stand Up To Racism drew about 5,000 people.
Robinson, founder of the English Defence League, addressed the crowd, while far-right European politicians and Tesla CEO Elon Musk also voiced anti-immigration sentiments. The march comes amid heated debate in the UK over illegal Channel crossings.
