Not a good guy, but followed my heart, says Pichai

New Delhi, Dec 17, 2015: ’I was not a good guy but I followed my heart’, Google CEO Sundar Pichai today said while tracing his journey to the top notch in the world’s internet giant. Interacting with students across India through video conferencing, from the premises of SRCC college,Delhi University, Mr Pichai did not hesitate to talk about his average academic performance.

About working at Google, Mr Pichai said, ’’It is an amazing place to work at, filled with fun... Always pushing you to deliver the best... Was fascinated when I went to work there.’’’’Google has been a phenomenon. We are constantly striving to achieve better then the best. It is lotmore balanced than people realise it to be.

’’I am working in the direction of building smart phones equipped with virtual reality technology. We areconstantly thinking about what "NEXT". Smart phone concept has been very much relevant.’’’’Its wonderful to take risks, things will work out in the long run. Follow your dreams and do what youlike,’’ he suggested to students.

On being queried as to what he would have been if not Google CEO, he said he would also building software products.He added, ’’India is well positioned to achieve the digital India dream. It is the unique opportunity India has. I dream of India where artificial intelligence will lessen the burden of humans.

Mr Pichai revealed himself to be a big soccer fan and ardent Messi follower.Describing himself as a huge fan of cricket, technology giant Google’s chief Sundar Pichai today said he wanted to be a cricketer in his childhood, revering legends like Sunil Gavaskar in his growing years.

Pichai also talked about education and start-ups while answering students and teachers. When a student asked that why there were lesser number of non-computer science students working for Google, he replied by saying, "Follow your dreams and work where you want. We do hire non -computer science graduates from languages majors, history, commerce and engineering. Developing softwares is just a part of it ."

Pichai also announced that Google is planning to train 2 million developers over the next three years and will be collaborating with around 30 universities in India.
