Kejriwal govt re-opens 2002 CNG fitness scam case

New Delhi, June 06, 2015: Trouble is set to rise for officials accused in Delhi’s 2002 CNG fitness scam, as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has decided to reopen the case. Top officials of the then Sheila Dikshit government allegedly made favours to companies issuing fitness certificates to CNG vehicles in Delhi.

The probe in the Rs 100 crore scam had hit a roadblock when ACB stated that it did not receive the case details to begin the probe. However, the probe agency is now ready to reopen the case.

Commenting on Kejriwal government’s decision to pursue the 13-year-old case, Congress leader PC Chacko said the AAP government was playing vendetta politics.

Commenting on Kejriwal government’s decision to pursue the 13-year-old case, Congress leader PC Chacko said the AAP government was playing vendetta politics.

"It’s an old story. Now they are reopening it, I don’t know what is the procedure. It looks as a vendetta and there are no facts in the case. Kejriwal is known for raking up old issues, here is another one," Chacko said.

The Aam Aadmi Party, in December last year, had raised the issue of the CNG fitness scam and attacked the ’continuing silence’ of the central government and Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on the alleged indictment of top bureaucrats.

Senior party leader Ashutosh had said that CBI in its report has stated that the case was originally investigated by the Delhi Anti-corruption branch, which has names of several senior bureaucrats of Delhi administration.
