Jerusalem/Tehran, June 15, 2025: In an intensifying conflict, Israel and Iran launched fresh attacks on Sunday, targeting critical infrastructure and causing significant casualties.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced an "extensive series of strikes" on Tehran-based sites linked to Iran’s nuclear program. The IDF stated that the strikes targeted the Iranian Defence Ministry headquarters, the SPND nuclear project headquarters, and a location where Iran allegedly stored its nuclear archives. The details were shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Iran reported that the Shahran oil depot in Tehran and an oil refinery near the capital were struck in Israeli attacks. Additionally, the South Pars gas field, the world’s largest, partially suspended production following an Israeli strike that caused a fire on Saturday.
In retaliation, Iran launched missile attacks on Israeli cities, triggering air raid sirens in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. At least seven people, including a 10-year-old boy and a woman in her 20s, were killed in the strikes, adding to the nine fatalities and over 300 injuries reported in Israel since Friday.
The escalating hostilities mark a sharp rise in tensions between the two nations, with both sides targeting strategic assets and civilian areas. Global leaders have expressed concerns about the potential for a broader conflict in the region.
