Bengaluru: FIR over obscene AI videos targeting Sonia and Rahu​l Gandhi

Bengaluru, Sep 2, 2026: The High Grounds police have registered an FIR against the operator of the X handle Bhartah Matrix (@xbharat / X BHARATH) and others for allegedly posting AI-generated and morphed obscene videos featuring Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Pawan Khera.

The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by Sridhara M M, who is associated with the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office on Queens Road. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.

According to a senior police officer, the complainant noticed the objectionable videos on August 28 while at the KPCC office. He alleged that the accused had created and shared manipulated videos using the identities and likenesses of the Congress leaders without their consent.

One of the videos allegedly showed Pawan Khera carrying Sonia Gandhi in an obscene and suggestive manner. Another purportedly depicted Sonia Gandhi and her late husband, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, dancing to a song.

Another objectionable post allegedly showed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tying a rakhi to Rahul Gandhi before portraying the two in an obscene manner, according to the complaint.

Sridhara alleged that the suspect manages social media activities for the BJP in Karnataka and that the objectionable content was created using artificial intelligence and digitally manipulated material.

The complainant alleged that the posts were intended to sexually demean and publicly humiliate the Congress leaders, particularly the women leaders, besides causing harassment through social media, the police officer said.

Police are investigating the origin of the posts, the persons involved in creating and circulating the content, and the social media accounts associated with the alleged offence.
