Mangaluru, July 2, 2025: Speaking at the Press Day celebration organized by the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association at Mangalore Patrika Bhavan, media personality Walter Nandalike emphasized that a significant section of the public continues to place strong trust in print media.
Citing the findings of a recent survey during his lecture on the challenges faced by the media sector, Nandalike noted that 60 percent of people trust print media, while 63 percent do not trust television news. Notably, 89 percent of people expressed distrust toward social media platforms and online news websites.
“Despite the growing presence of digital media, artificial intelligence, and other technological advancements, these challenges can be addressed through creativity and innovation,” he said, stressing the need for the media to remain proactive in maintaining credibility among the public.
Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy President Umar U.H. also addressed the gathering and acknowledged the hurdles faced by media professionals. He lauded the recognition given to grassroots-level contributors, especially those involved in newspaper distribution and delivery.
As part of the Press Day program, Newspaper delivery person Raghuram K was felicitated for his dedicated service.
The event was presided over by Srinivas Indalje, President of the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association. Other dignitaries present included Mangalore Press Club President P.B. Harish Rai, retired Dakshina Kannada, ADM Prabhakara Sharma, senior journalists Chidambara Baikampadi, Kumarnath, Mangalore Today Editor / Publisher, V. U. George, Vice President of the District Journalists Association Bhaskara Rai Katta, Treasurer Pushparaj B.N., and Secretary Vijaya Kotyan, who also narrated the program. General Secretary Jitendra Kundeshwar was present as well.
