Mumbai Rain Chaos

Over the last two days, Mumbai has witnessed persistent rainfall that has brought life to a standstill. Some local trains were cancelled, while government offices declared a holiday. Private offices were urged to let employees work from home as the roads were waterlogged.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Wednesday issued a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Maharashtra. A red nowcast warning has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts, indicating intense to very intense rainfall spells accompanied by gusty winds.

As per the weather forecast, the warning is valid for the next three hours, and residents are advised to remain indoors and avoid venturing into low-lying or flood-prone areas.

According to data released by the Maharashtra Disaster Management Department, six people have lost their lives in rain and flood-related issues in the last 24 hours in the state.
