Youth turns Good Samaritan; rescues child from well

Bantwal, May 17, 2024: A young man named Umesh Naik has won commendation for his brave act of rescuing a three year old child who accidentally fell into the well while playing at Sarapady Hanchikatte on May 14.

Abhishek, son of Nonaiah Naik was playing in the yard and had climbed on to the well platform and then landed on the net placed over the well to prevent dry leaves from falling into the well. In a matter of no time, the child fell into the well.

The mother and sister of the child who were at home began to scream for help. Umesh who was passing that way in his bike, stopped and without wasting time entered the  well with the help of a rope and brought the child out.

His exemplary deed has been hailed and the child is miraculously unhurt.
