Young woman killed, 5 injured as auto rams into electric pole near Gurupur

Mangaluru, Sept 18, 2023: A young woman lost her life while five others sustained injuries when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling went out of control of the driver and rammed into an electricity pole near Aanebali on Gurupura-Banglegudda road on September 17, Sunday.
The passengers in the autorickshaw belonged to a family from Arkula Tuppekallu and were returning after visiting the Adyapadi shrine. It is learnt the autorickshaw was overspeeding on the steep slope resulting in the mishap.
The deceased young woman is Preethi Sapaliga (25). Her mother Meenakshi (55), sister-in-law Shobha (37), sister Swati (23), Shobha’s son Bhavish (9) and auto driver Padmanabha were injured.
The condition of Meenakshi is said to be critical. Bajpe police have registered a case.
