Mangalore, Aug 20, 2011 : The ZP Public Education Department and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan of DK jointly organized a workshop on efficient administration for quality education at Nethravathi Hall on Aug 20 Saturday.
Dr. D. Veerendra Hegde inaugurated the event and said that India has become a prominent country in the world as far as education is concerned because youth educated in India are getting placed in IT companies abroad. Foreign countries, which were once thinking in terms of donating to India to educationally empower it, are now depending on intelligent, educated Indian youth. Expressing his appreciation of South India, he said that South India is better than North India, which still experiences a lot of poverty.
Speaking about the rural development project, he said that facilities such as furniture will be provided to various schools under this project. Stating that there is no child labour in the district because of the Akshara Dasoha projects, he said that this project should be implemented under the public private partnership model to make it more successful.
Kumar Nayak, the government secretary of the primary and higher primary education in Bangalore, was the chief guest of the event. Speaking about the natural resources available in the country, he said that the state government has sanctioned funds of Rs. 10,100 crore for education. He also said that the mid-day meal facility has encouraged a large number of children to join schools and reduced the number of drop outs.
Eshwar Kateel, the president of the education and health standing committee, was the guest of honor. ZP President K. T. Shailaja Bhat presided over the event.
DC Dr. Channappa Gowda, ZP CEO Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash; B. G. Naik, the joint director of the mid-day meal scheme; and Philomena Lobo were the chief guests on the dais.
