Mangalore, March 14, 2013  : "There is no one-time solution to the menace of drugs.  The need of the hour is to create  awareness among the younger generation in this regard repeatedly, said AM Prasad, ADGP(Crime and Technical Services).

He was delivering the  key-note address at a workshop on ’Technology to combat drug menace’ organised by the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science and School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya on March 14, Thursday.


Pointing out that much of the drugs enter the country through land, sea and air routes, he emphasised the need for greater vigil at every entry and exit point be it airports or ports.
He said educational institutions and voluntary bodies play an instrumental role in creating awareness among youngsters.


SP Abhishek Goel, who also spoke said the society need to be vigilant and keep an eye on anyone indulging in suspicious activities as drugs issue may be at the core. Pointing out that it was peer pressure that leads to drug addiction many a time, he said people who are addicted to drinking and smoking have a greater chance of getting into drugs.


ADGP AM Prasad released a newsletter " Crime and You."
Dr Jacintha D’Souza, former principal of Roshni Nilaya presided over the function.
