Mangalore, March 17, 2013: Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive officer Dr KN Vijayaprakash has informed that the administration will install GPS equipment on tankers supplying drinking waters to areas facing water crisis during summer.
The ZP CEO also stated that nearly 44 villages have been identified as villages facing acute water shortage and that water would be supplied to these areas through tankers. He said the installation of GPS equipment would ensure transparency in the water supply mechanism.
Vijayaprakash also informed that all the local administrative bodies including Gram Panchayats and Taluk Panchayats have been asked to maintain a separate register to record complaints regarding water problem. He said the government has released Rs 5.48 crore under contingency action plan to solve drinking water problem.
