Wall collapse; Young woman dies; 4 injured

Udupi,Aug 7, 2013 : The wall collapse of a house at Yelagoli in Shivapura village in Karkala on August 5, Monday night resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to four others.

The woman who lost her life in the tragic incident is Poornima (25). Her husband Sunder(35) and sister Pushpa(22) have been severely injured and admitted to Wenlock Hospital. Luckily, Poornima’s children named Yashwanth and Yakshith, aged six and four respectively escaped with minor injuries, while her youngest child, one year old Yashchith was safe in the cradle.

All of them were sleeping in one room when tragedy struck. However, Sunder’s brother-in-law Yogish who was sleeping in the verandah was lucky to survive.

Sunder is an agricultural labourer while Pushpa and the deceased Poornima worked in a petrol bunk.

A case has been registered in Hebri police station.
