Uppinangady: Absconding warrant accused arrested in 2021 criminal case

Uppinangady, July 24, 2025: The Uppinangady police have arrested a warrant accused who had been absconding without appearing before the court in connection with a 2021 criminal case under the jurisdiction of the Uppinangady police station.

The arrested individual has been identified as Yatiraj (34) from Manjeshwar. He had been evading court appearance since 2022, despite seven warrants being issued against him. The police have now registered a case against him under Section 269 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 at the Uppinangady police station for disobeying court orders and failing to attend trial.

According to the police, the accused has been involved in multiple vehicle theft cases in Puttur Town, Bantwal Town, and Venur police limits. In total, around seven cases are registered against him at Konaje, Kavoor, and Vittal police stations.
