Unknown gang sets fire to ABC Friends Circle office

Thokkottu, Nov 5, 2011 : Certain unknown people set fire to the office of ABC Friends Circle at Thokkottu on Volapete Church Road, early in the morning of Nov 5, Saturday. The office was a social centre for local youth interested in socializing and social service.

 

 

 

Reportedly, 3 people arrived on a motorbike, poured kerosene on the premises, and struck a match. A night watchman, who keeps on eye on around 200 shops and other buildings in the locality, observed them and raised an alarm. Immediately, the trio fled from the scene.

The watchman immediately called up a number of people and soon a crowd appeared on the scene. They succeeded in putting out the fire before it could spread to 15 – 20 other shops and offices and 3 houses in the locality.

Two weeks back, some people had placed sticky oil waste, usually available at garages, at the door of the ABC Friends Circle office. People feel that the same people might have set the office on fire today.

The fire attracted the attention of several people in the locality, who rushed to the spot.

A case has been registered at the local police station.
