Udupi, Dec 09, 2022: Police have arrested a man of West Bengal origin in connection with the theft of gold jewellery worth nearly Rs 7 lakhs from a jewellery production unit at Kelarkalabettu.
The arrested person is Subhashish Bera (38) from Medinapur district in West Bengal. The theft had taken place on November 25. Bera who was a former worker of the jewellery making unit had broken open the main door and escaped with the jewellery inside. The stolen jewellery was worth Rs 7 lakhs.
Following his arrest the accused revealed to the cops that he had even thrown the CCTV camera of the firm into a well. The same has now been retrieved.
