Karkala: Absconding warrant accused held after 36 years

Karkala, Jul 28, 2026: Karkala Town police arrested a 60-year-old warrant accused who had been evading arrest for nearly 36 years. The accused was apprehended on July 27 near Ramasamudra in Karkala taluk.

The arrested individual has been identified as Peter Augustine Martis (60), a resident of Ramasamudra, Karkala.


Abscond


He was arrested by a team led by the Karkala Town Police Sub-Inspector along with police personnel after remaining absconding for over three decades.

Following his arrest, Peter Augustine Martis was produced before the Principal Civil Judge and JMFC Court in Karkala, which remanded him to judicial custody.
