Udupi: Hi-drama as drunken man climbs electric pole

Udupi, Oct 7, 2013: There was panic for some time near the Geetanjali Theatre in the town on October 6, Sunday when a man in a drunken stupor climbed an electric pole and began hanging on the wires. He then kept the public, police and the fire service personnel who rushed to the spot, on their toes for over an hour by refusing to budge.

It is learnt,he climbed the electric pole following a quarrel with a friend over a trivial issue. The man has been identified as Rajesh from Mangalore. The repeated plea by the public, police and fire service men to get down went in vain and he instead of climbing down leaped over to a nearby building.

When public were about to catch hold of him, he managed to jump to another building. After much effort, he was caught and handed over to the police.
The man was then admitted the Ajjarkad Government Hospital.
