Udupi, July 25, 2025: Udupi Lokayukta police on Wednesday arrested Renuka, Deputy Director of the Audit Department at the Udupi District Cooperative Society, and First Division Assistant Jayaram for allegedly demanding a bribe to conduct the administrative elections of a Souharda Cooperative Society.
The duo reportedly demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 — ₹5,000 each — to facilitate the conduct of board elections of the Souharda Cooperative Society. However, Narendra, the Chief Executive Officer of Shanthiniketan Souharda Cooperative Society, refused to pay the bribe and lodged a complaint with the Udupi Lokayukta police.
Acting on the complaint, the Lokayukta police caught Renuka red-handed while she was accepting the bribe at her office in Udupi.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Mangaluru Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Kumarachandra, with the involvement of Acting DySP Manjunath Shankarahalli, Inspector Rajendra Nayak M.N., Mangaluru Lokayukta Inspector Chandrashekhar, and several Udupi and Mangaluru Lokayukta personnel, including Nagesh Udupa, Nagaraj, Rohith, Satish Handadi, Mallika, Pushpavathi, Abdul Jalal, Ravindra Ganiga, Prasanna Devadiga, Ramesh, Satish Acharya, Raghavendra Hosakote, Suraj, and Sudheer.
